Permits in Castle Rock
Town or county — and who’s allowed to pull the permit.
- Town or county? A Castle Rock mailing address isn’t always inside Town limits. Properties outside them get permits from Douglas County, not the Town.
- Registered contractors only. The Town requires contractors to be licensed and registered before starting permitted work, and lists them in its eTRAKiT portal. We do permitted work only where we hold current registration.
- Homeowner permits are for homeowners doing the work. The Town’s homeowner affidavit can only be signed by the homeowner doing the work — contractors can’t sign it for you. If one asks you to pull the permit, treat it as a red flag.
- HOAs and metro districts. Many neighborhoods here have design review for exterior changes. Tell us yours, and we’ll send our certificate of insurance and the details they ask for.
